Anthony "Tony" Donofrio
September 19, 1925 - March 25, 2018
Anthony (Tony) Donofrio, 92, of Sun City Center, was carried home on the wings of angels on March 25, 2018. The third of eight children, Tony left home at 17 and joined the Marine Corps, serving on Iwo Jima. Thankfully, he returned safely and was swept off his feet by the voluptuous (yes, all 89 pounds of her) Donna Marlin. They married and raised three daughters (hey, if you can survive Iwo, you can survive living with four women). Tony and Donna would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this coming October (yet another miracle of survival!) Tony was a refrigeration serviceman prior to becoming a pressure piping inspector for the City of Toledo. He taught refrigeration and air conditioning classes at Macomber and through RSES, of which he was a proud member. His proudest affiliation though was with the Marine Corps League where he served as an officer and was active in the Toys for Tots drive for many years. Tony loved his family, his friends, and golf. He relished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna Marlin Donofrio, daughters Sharon Donofrio (Russ Palka), Toni Frankhouse (Dan), and Pat Rose (Deb Swan); grandchildren Bob Donofrio (Tracy), Shaina Sine, Kelly Hollabaugh (Bryan), Stacie Rains, Dani Monday (Nick), Tiffany Rice (James), Acacia Romero (Omar) and Michelle Rose; and his 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Mary Siebenaller and brother Vincent Donofrio, both of Toledo, Ohio. Should you wish to make a donation in Tony’s memory, please contribute to your local Hospice and always remember Toys for Tots........for Tony. Semper Fi.
