Edith L Berube, 81 Ruskin, FL — Edith L Berube, 81, of Ruskin, FL passed peacefully in the morning hours of April 14, 2016 at St Josephs South, Riverview, FL. with Ed by her side. Born on March 20, 1935 in Hartland, VT. She was predeceased by her parents, Percy and Mabel Dill Patterson and her siblings, Elsie, Charles, Alice, James, and Millie. On November 3, 1951, she married her beloved husband, Edward A. Berube. They designed and built a home in Holden, MA where they lived for 60 years. She was a member of St Francis Episcopal Church, Holden, MA. Edie was an active member of Holden Senior Center, and especially loved playing cards and delivering "Meals on Wheels". They wintered at the Masonic RV Park in Wimauma, FL for 18 years before moving to Florida. Edie worked many jobs as she helped raise her family. She later retired from the Shawmut Bank, Worcester, MA. In the early years great joy came from square dancing, camping, fishing, skiing and spending time with her family and friends. Later Edie enjoyed gardening, cooking and swimming. After the move to FL, the calmer weather, visits and memories of friends, family and Ed continued to sustain her. Edie is survived by her beloved Ed and daughters Linda Baker and Sandra Feenstra. Linda and her husband Michael Baker reside in Mt. Airy, N.C.; Sandra and her husband Jim Feenstra reside in GreenBay, WI. She felt very blessed to have five grandchildren; Greg, Brian, James, Jennifer and Charles and five great-grandchildren; Katherine, Jacob, Christopher, Colette, and Benjamin. Edie was a loving mother, a great mother-in-law, a wonderful grandmother, and a super great-grandmother. We ALL will miss her great sense of humor and we have been blessed to have her for over 81 years. A ceremony in honor of Edith's life will be in Massachusetts at a later date. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us." Helen Keller God looked around his garden And found an empty place, He then looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put his arms around you And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering He knew you were in pain. He knew that you would never Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids And whispered, ‘Peace be Thine’. It broke our hearts to lose you But you didn’t go alone, For part of us went with you The day God called you home.
