John Joseph Thiffault

John Joseph Thiffault passed away peacefully on July 9, 2018 in Ruskin, Florida at age 69. He was the husband of Linda Patricia Thiffault (Barboza) of 46 years. He was born on October 14, 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Richard and Agnes Nancy (McDonald) Thiffault. John served his country from 1967 to 1970, including service in Vietnam, after enlisting in the United States Naval Construction Battalion, aka The Seabees, following his graduation from Brookline High School in 1967. John worked in the construction industry and owned Thiffault Construction Corp as a general contractor. He later worked for the town of Natick, Massachusetts and as Director of Facilities in Reading, Massachusetts. He was a 23-year season ticket holder of the Boston Red Sox and attended every Opening Day at Fenway Park from 1971 to 2005. He enjoyed woodworking and helping others with construction projects in his spare time. After raising their family in Natick, Massachusetts, he and Linda settled in Apollo Beach, Florida in 2006. He is also survived by his son Jeffrey L. Thiffault and his wife Betsy, grandchildren Sophia and Logan of Metuchen, New Jersey and his daughter Kelly P. Rodday and her husband Peter, grandchildren Paige and Rocco of Saint George’s, Bermuda. John was one of eight children including his brother Victor of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, sister Nancy Callahan of Thornton, New Hampshire and brother Robert of Cincinnati, OH. Following cremation, a ceremony is scheduled in Apollo Beach, Florida at a date to be determined. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in John’s name to the Seabee Memorial Scholarship Association at www.seabee.org.
