Thomas Eric Simonsen

October 4, 1933 - July 28, 2018

THOMAS ERIC SIMONSEN, M.D. was born in Janesville, Wisconsin. Tom graduated from St. Olaf College in MN and Northwestern Medical College where he specialized in Radiology. He served in the U.S. Army as a Physician where he received wounded soldiers during the Vietnam War. Tom is survived by his wife, Ann, children and grandchildren to whom he was devoted. Tom enjoyed travel; has circled the World 6 times with Ann on the ms Amsterdam. He most recently explored a Glacier while visiting the Canadian Rockies. Tom appreciated his home in Sun City Center as one of the best places on earth! He also enjoyed annual time in Sanibel Island, FL. Tom participated in the Kings Point Discussion Group for several years. He donated time to AARP Tax Preparation for Sun City Center residents. Classical music was often heard as Tom worked on his computer. He had a special interest in current events, history and genealogy. He was an avid reader & also enjoyed live theater. He was a gentle man with a sense of humor and personal dignity. He enjoyed sharing his life's stories & discussing literature & poetry with Ann. Tom served on the Board of his Homeowner's Assoc; Nantucket 2 in Kings Point. Tom also enjoyed his involvement at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Tom's passing was peaceful with Ann by his side. He often used the word "Grateful". He has gone on his Final Journey to the loving arms of God. He will be missed by many who feel fortunate to have known him. Tom regarded Kindness as an important virtue which directed his life. A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Sun City Center, 1239 Del Webb Blvd, W. on Tuesday, August 14, at 2:00. It will be led by The Rev. Dr. Mark Salmon.
