William E Ellison passed away peacefully on February 27, 2019, with his wife of 50 years, Barbara at his side. Billy was born on May 17, 1946, in South Amboy, NJ. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served our country for four years. While in the Marines, Bill was a member of the elite 1st Force Reconnaissance Company in South Vietnam, making over 40 long range patrols deep into enemy controlled territory. His Recon Team, code named “Killer Kane”, was the most famous Marine Reconnaissance Team during the war, and he was decorated several times for his bravery. After Vietnam he was stationed with the 1st Guard Detachment, Henderson Hall in Arlington, VA. He left the Marine Corps with the rank of Sergeant. He was a Sergeant on the South Amboy Police Dept. He attended Middlesex County College and became a Captain on the Amtrak Police Dept. in New York City. Billy was loved deeply, and will be missed by his devoted wife Barbara, son Scott, Sisters Pat Petho, Maureen Martin, Nancy Peterson, Susan Ellison, brother Joseph Ellison, in-laws Richard and Darlene Zinno, and his grandchildren Josephine Mercado, Seth Ellison, and Peter Joseph Westhoven, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Marie Ellison, his sister Kathleen Clayton, and his daughter Kirsten Ellison. A Celebration of Life and Mass will be held on Tuesday March 12 at 10:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Ruskin, FL. There will be a Reception in the Hall at St Anne’s. There will be a Marine Corps Honor Guard on Wednesday, March 13 at 1:30 pm at Bay Pines Cemetery.
