ALICE JOHNSON CHAMBERLAIN died on August 26, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Benson at the age of 103. She was born to John Albert Johnson and Emma Fennell Johnson on March 9, 1906 in Hancock, Minnesota. Shortly after, the family moved to Clontarf where she lived until moving to Golden Living Center in 2001. She attended Clontarf school, graduated from high school in Northwood, Iowa, and attended the Morris, Minnesota, School of Business. In 1928 she married Ellard Chamberlain, Sr. at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clontarf where they were both lifetime members. In 1929, they bought the home in Clontarf where they lived until Ellard's death in 1967 and she lived until her move to Golden Living Center at age 95. She was bookkeeper for 35 years for the family owned business, Chamberlain Oil Company which she, her husband, and son began in 1949. Her chocolate chip cookies and fudge are legendary among her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by four children: Ellard (Mary) Chamberlain, Nadine Marsnik, Molly Hanson, and Deann (Dave) Johnson; 19 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Johnson, sisters, Florence Mills, Mabel Smith, and two infant sisters; and her sons-in-law, DuWayne Hanson and George Marsnik.
