Obituary

Alicinne K. Peebles was a natural Patriot to our country. She was born in our nations capitol (Washington, D.C.) on Veterans Day (November 11) in 1957, to parents who both served our country in the United States Air Force. Alicinne was a 'military brat', traveling all over Europe with her parents. She began her own, long military career by joining the DC Air National Guard in 1981. She subsequently enlisted in the regular Air Force in 1984, the beginning of almost 25 years of active military service.
Al attended primary school in Germany and in Baltimore, Maryland. She had a love of music, athletics of all sorts, and animals. She excelled in math and electronics. Al was initially quiet and reserved until she felt comfortable with you and then she became more outgoing. She made friends easily and was loyal and generous to those she was close to. It is said that once she became your friend, it would be forever. Al played the clarinet, saxophone, and acoustic guitar and used those skills to join the Marching band at Northwestern High School. She graduated from there on June 9, 1975 and enrolled at Morgan State College that fall. Once there, Al joined the infamous Morgan State Marching Band under the leadership and guidance of Band Directors Melvin Miles and John Newsome. She may not have realized it then but she and 12 other young ladies became charter members of a historical legacy of high musical proficiency and excellence by becoming the 'Founding Mothers' of the Epsilon Omega Chapter for Tau Beta Sigma, a band sorority at Morgan State College in 1975. Al left school prior to graduation and subsequently joined the Maryland National Guard and later, the Air Force Reserves in the late 70's. Alicinne decided to go active duty and entered the United States Air Force in February of 1984. Al was stationed in many countries to include Guam, Turkey, Iraq, Italy and her favorite place, Korea. Her favorite meal was Bulgogi, Korean style. Al was trained as a Fuel Systems Mechanic at Chanute Air Base in Illinois. She worked on aircraft as varied at the Air Force's top fighter, the F-15 Eagle and the gigantic C-5 Galaxy cargo aircraft. She traveled to many different places in the world and navigated easily by learning the languages of the people. Alicinne enjoyed the single life for many years but decided to become a mother in 1996. She happily transformed the single life to that of motherhood, understanding and adapting to the highlights of "Barney and Sponge Bob", crayons and coloring books. Knowing that she would soon accomplish 20 years of military service, Alicinne began training and preparation to become a Personal Fitness trainer and Therapist. Al was forced to leave active duty due to her illness in 2008. She achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and had the respect of her peers. She moved to Tampa , Florida after her separation from the military. Some of her favorite things were Sydnee, good friends, good food, and driving.....fast!
Also affectionately known to family and friends as "Dee", "Sister", or "Al", passed away on November 24, 2010 after a long fought battle with cancer. She was 53 years old.
