Barbara L. Powers Jones, of Mt. Vernon, IN, passed away March 17,2023 at home in Ruskin, Florida after a recent illness. She was born on July 6, 1943 to Tom and Cornelia Powers. Barb graduated from Mater Dei in 1961 and still met up with classmates monthly for lunch. Barb retired from Professional Transportation Inc. After retirement she and Ray became snowbirds where she taught water aerobics in their retirement community where they had many close friends. She enjoyed her hummingbirds, her flower garden and loved IU Basketball.

She is survived by husband of 21 years Ray Jones. Daughters Brenda (Jeff) Hartmann, Cheryl Zink Bell, Michelle (Joe) Schweizer, Danielle (Kevin) Todd, Jennifer (Ryan) Boone. Sons Keith (Andrea) France and Steve (Katie) Jones. Grandchildren Celeste (Mark) Rust, Ben (Lindsay) Hartmann, Jason (Jessie) Bell, Ashli (Jeremy) Russelburg, Christine (AJ) Hale, Erin Schweizer, Noah (Emily) Schweizer, Clay Siesky, Sabrina Schweizer, Evan, Drew and Aaron Todd, Dylan, Madison and Jacob Boone, Shelby, Cameron and Caroline Jones and 14 Great Grandchildren. Brother Eugene (Sally) Powers and sister Shirley Powers. Sister-in-law Peggy (Richard) Knight and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she loved to attend school and sports activities they participated in.

She was proceeded in death by husband Marion Ray Zink, parents Tom and Cornelia Powers and sister Rebecca Powers.


A Celebration of Life will be held in Indiana at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in her honor to the West Side Nut Club or American Heart Association.
