Betty Jo Simpson 81, of Sun City Center,
FL passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 at
Life Path Hospice House after a battle with cancer.
Born Oct. 20, 1934 in Griggsville, IL,
she was the daughter of Christopher R.
and Beatrice (Eaves) Stauffer.
Betty married Charles P. Simpson on
January 19, 1957, in Tunica, MS.
He survives. They resided 46 years in Alton, IL
until 2003 when they moved to Sun City Center.
She worked for Alton Box Board, Olin Corporation,
Grafton Boat Company and as a legal secretary, retiring in 1990.
Betty was a devout Christian and member of the East Bay Church of Christ.
She was known for her cheerful disposition, devotion to husband and family,
thoughtfulness, and generosity. Betty enjoyed word games,
crosswords, crocheting, cruising, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her beloved husband,
she is survived by daughter and son-in-law,
Sandra and Ramon A. Madrigal of Temple Terrace, FL;
grandson, David Madrigal of Temple Terrace, FL ,
granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Cynthia and Bryan Combs of Tampa, FL;
cherished great-grandsons, Ramon C. Madrigal, Charles Madrigal,
and Malcolm Combs (who was born on her birthday 5 days before her death);
sisters, Joyce Stilwell of Shelbyville, TN and Roberta Gannon of Godfrey, IL:
brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Betty Stauffer of Wood River, IL;
sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Richard Conger of Sun City Center, FL;
and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Susan and Robin Ainsworth, of Manchester, England.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents,
a brother Charles Robert Stauffer, and brothers-in-law,
Ronald Stilwell and Larry Gannon.
A memorial service will be held on
Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 pm at the
East Bay Church of Christ,
Sun City Center, FL.
