Mary Birdelyn Chase was born July 20, 1918 in Benson Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Nathan P. and Ada B. (Person) Chase. She was baptized at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in 1964. Birdelyn grew up on the family farm and attended school at District #67 in Benson Township through the eighth grade. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, reading, quilting and listening to the radio. In 1970, she moved into Benson and to Westwood Manor in 1989. She moved to Meadow Lane Health Care Center in 2003. Birdelyn was called from this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Swift County Benson Hospital. She attained the age of 91 years, 6 months and 12 days. Birdelyn is survived by nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Nathan and Ada; sisters: Blanche Hoffman, Faye Chase, Eunice Chase, and Vivian Boyington; and one brother, Floyd Chase.
