In Loving Memory of Carolyn Marie Battista Jacob

February 11, 1942 – September 21, 2025

Carolyn Marie Battista Jacob, a trailblazer, devoted mother, and spirited soul, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, at the age of 83, Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Carolyn lived a life full of love, laughter, and purpose.


She was the beloved wife of Lawrence Jacob and the cherished mother of Cheryl Stone, Michelle Hoffman, Theresa Thompson, and Laorraine Musante. She is also survived by her siblings, Joseph Maconi, Susan Ballard (Atkins) and Anna Battista. Her legacy lives on through her 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and nurtured with unwavering devotion. She is preceded by her father, Godfredo (Fred) Battista and mother, Georgiana Sheer.


Carolyn broke barriers in her professional life, becoming the first female Chief Crew Dispatcher for Conrail, where she led with strength and grace. Earlier in her career, she was recognized as the top Chief Cord Board Operator at Women's Medical Hospital in Philadelphia- a testament to her determination and excellence.


Beyond her career, Carolyn's heart belonged to her family and her pets. She found joy in cooking for loved ones, playing computer games, and traveling across the United States. Her generosity extended to causes close to her heart, especially St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.


Carolyn had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved antiquing, dancing, and playing trivia games with her family- where her quick wit always shone. As a teenager, she danced on American Bandstand with Dick Clark, a memory she treasured and proudly shared.


Her warmth, humor, and fierce love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Carolyn's life was a beautiful blend of strength, compassion, and joy- a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, 9:30 am to 12:00 pm at Zipperer's Funeral Home.




In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her honor.
