The Lord called home one of His finest angels,
Donald Herman Hering.
Don Hering is survived by,
Stella, his loving wife of 53 years;
His son, Brian Hering, daughter-in-law,
Kris Hering, and grandchildren, Trevor and Emily Hering; and
His daughter, Leslee Wiles, son-in-law, Michael Wiles,
and granddaughters, Alyvia and Mikayla Wiles.
He was born in Ohio, May 6, 1940.
He Received his Masters in Biology at Eastern Kentucky University.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps immediately following college.
Among many of his accomplishments in the 32 years serving his country,
he served two tours in Vietnam, taught at the esteemed West Point Academy
and was a highly decorated and recognized Marine before finally retiring
as a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps.
Following his retirement from the Marine Corps,
he went on to work for Florida Hospital as the Data Center Director;
and served 7 years working for the State of Florida with the Department of Elder Affairs
as the Deputy State Ombudsmen where he played a pivotal role in lawmaking
that would ultimately lead to an improvement in the treatment of the elderly
and the level of care they would receive.
Don Hering faithfully served The Lord for 75 years.
He was strong in his faith.
He served as a Deacon, a Stephen Minister and
was an Elder Emeritus in his church.
He counseled prisoners by sharing the Word of The Lord
and gave of his time freely to many charities
including Metropolitan Ministries and Beth El Mission.
A very special set of wings was made for this man
and you can rest assured he will be
watching over us all from above.
He will truly be missed by all who knew him,
but will never be forgotten.

A memorial service will be held
Saturday December 12, 2015, at 10 a.m.
at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church
in Sun City Center, Florida.
