Obituary
Doris Anne (Knoth) Fass, 88 of Sun City Center, Florida, predeceased by her husband of 64 years,
James J. Fass Sr., passed away on July 29, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Lynn Stephen, also of Sun City Center, FL.
Born in New York City, NY, February 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Madeline Knoth, who then moved to Flushing Queens, NY.
In 1948, Doris and James moved from NY to Torrington, CT where they lived and raised their family for 33 years.
Doris was active in the National Secretaries Association, Quota Club, Burrville PTA, Board for Larc Industries and the Building Committee for Coe Park in 1971.
She began her career as Manager of the original Connecticut House, Hitchcock Chair and latter became their Production Scheduler.
Doris then moved on to Charter Oak Container (Stone Container) where she priced out orders for the production line.
She retired in 1981 from Stone Container in order to move to Florida.
Doris was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Winsted, CT and Prince of Peace Church in Sun City Center, FL.
While in Florida, Doris was a volunteer at the South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center and at the Sun City Center Community Library.
She was active with the Sun City Center Security Patrol, played golf, bridge and loved all the RV camping they did across the USA.
Doris is survived by her children; five daughters, Nancy Bleakney Virginia (Ginger) Krause, and Cynthia Fass all of Torrington, Lynn Stephen of Sun City Center, FL, Susan Hancock of Riverton, CT and her son James Fass Jr. of Seminole, FL. Other family members include; her brother John (Jack) Knoth and wife Pat of Centennial, Colorado, twelve grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her loving husband James and her granddaughter Melissa.
Doris was a wonderful mother and the inner strength of our family, who will be greatly missed by all.
A private burial was held in Florida.
