Dorothy Breum was born on May 21, 1923, at Bismarck, North Dakota, to Carl and Emelia (Mietzner) Pederson. She attended school at Appleton High School and was confirmed on January 28, 1940, at Gethsemane Episcopal Church in Appleton.Dorothy worked mainly as a homemaker in her own home and also did dishwashing at the North Side Café. She liked baking, going for walks, cards, Bingo, and most of all spending time with family and friends. She had a great love for her cat and close companion for many years, "Kitty". Dorothy was a long time member and supporter of the Humane Society.She died on Monday evening March 8th, at Homestead Place North in Benson. She had attained 86 years, 9 months, and 17 days of age.She is survived by four children: Linda Huffman of Benson, Laura (Randy) Slaughter of Benson, Ellen (Vince) Bailey of Phoenix, AZ, and Rosemary (Steve) Peterson of DeGraff; seven grandchildren: David (Heather) Flannigan, Karrie Bahr (fiancé Alan Johnson), Ben Weber (fiancé Jenny Allen), Sam Petersen, Jamie Huffman, Rebecca Petersen, and Rachel (Brett) Allen; three great-grandchildren: Ryan Allen, Carson Weber, and Jadyn Betvold; her brother, David (Marge) Peterson, of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: James Huffman and Melvin Breum; daughter Mary Lou Huffman; granddaughter Julie Bergman; two brothers: Lloyd and Cyrus Pederson; and her sister, Mildred Forsberg.
