Obituary

Eleanor Dorthea Hamann, was born on June 16, 1910, in Moyer Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Winkelman) Suckow. She was called from this life on Saturday, February 14, 2009, at the Homestead Place in Benson. She attained the age of 98 years, 7 months, and 28 days. She attended country school in Swift County. On November 8, 1933, Eleanor was united in marriage to Martin O. Hamann, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Holloway, by the Reverend Kaiser. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. Together they were able to share in 66 years of marriage. Eleanor and Martin farmed in rural Holloway until April of 1975, when they moved to Benson. She was a lifelong member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, were she was involved in Ladies' Aid. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and her grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons; Harley (LaVerne) Hamann, of Benson, and Darrel (Karen) Hamann of Maple Grove, MN; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Anna, her husband Martin, a daughter Phyllis Jensen, a son in law Myron Jensen, her twin sister Lorene Janke, a grandson Robert Hamann, and a brother Willard Suckow.
