Elizabeth (Betsi) L. Minguez, 80, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2022, in Sun City Hospice House in Sun City Center, Florida. Betsi was one of the strongest and bravest women to ever walk this earth, and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, and Nana who loved fiercely. She will be missed by those of us left behind. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn't have Betsi in our lives.

With her drive and initiative, she was self-taught in her career as a paralegal for numerous attorneys, in various specialties of the law, and her career spanned many decades. Through this, she enjoyed being able to help many people get the help that they needed. After she retired, she became the caregiver for her husband, Ralph, until he passed in 2006. She was also known as an excellent pinochle partner, and she enjoyed playing a wide variety of board, card, dice, and word games with family and friends, as well as cooking for her friends and family.

Betsi was also an active volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Through this organization, she became a Big Sister to Aquira Hall, and mentored her through her life. Betsi met Aquira's friends and family, and mentored them as well. She has left a huge influence in these people's lives and hearts.

Betsi was predeceased by her husband, Ralph. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Blomquist, her niece, Kimberly Schosso, her stepdaughter, Katherine Killian, her daughter, Kathleen Shannon, and her grandson, Robert F. Shannon, III, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Betsi's memory to Sun City Hospice House.

A celebration of Betsi's life will be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm at her home in Sun City Center, where we will gather for a brief service and fellowship, recounting our favorite stories of her.
