Evelyn Emma Tollefson was born September 23, 1907, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of George and Bertha (Strunning) Pedlar. She grew up in Berington, North Dakota and Montevideo, Minnesota. She was baptized in 1920 in Montevideo and attended school through the eighth grade. On July 10, 1927, Evelyn was united in marriage to Raymond Tollefson in Benson. This union was blessed with seven children. Raymond passed away in 1995, so they were able to share in 68 years of marriage. Evelyn worked as a cook for Meadow Lane Health Care Center for 25 years. She was known for her sense of humor. She also enjoyed participating in the Benson Kid Day celebration, sewing, crocheting and dancing. Evelyn was called from this life on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She attained the age of 101 years, 3 months and 17 days. Evelyn is survived by her children: Richard (special friend Bernice Clark) Tollefson of Circle Pines, Carol (Jerry) Johannessen of Benson, Douglas (Judy) Tollefson of New London, June (Lawrence) Muetzel of Redwood Falls, Vonnie Comp of Crystal, and Gale (Pat) Tollefson of Columbia Heights; 36 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Raymond; her parents, George and Bertha; a son, Glen Tollefson; a daughter-in-law, Rose Tollefson; and a son-in-law, Dex Comp.
