Florance Genette Christenson was born on June 14, 1923, to parents Sigwart and Genette (Olson) Simonson in Rolling Forks Township, Pope County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Rolling Forks Lutheran Church. She grew up on the family farm in Rolling Forks. She graduated from Benson High School and attended Glenwood Normal Training. Florance taught school for twenty eight years serving in many different districts and teaching grades one through eight. She enjoyed reading, quilting, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. On December 22, 1945, Florance was united in marriage to Wilton H. Christenson at the Rolling Forks Lutheran Church. Together they were able to share in 63 years of marriage. This union was blessed with two children. Florance was called from this life on Friday, August 28, 2009 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood, MN. She attained the age of 86 years 2 months and 14 days. She is survived by her Husband Wilton of Glenwood; her daughter Dawn (Marty) Hansen of Spring Lake Park; her son Scott Christenson of Murdock; two granddaughters Genette Hansen and Brigitte Hansen; and a sister Gladys Rois of Benson. She was preceded in death by her parents Sigwart and Genette, a brother Clarence Simonson, and five sisters Florence Simonson, Marie Haugen, Geneve Ring, Evelyn Hare, and Cora Lesteberg.
