Obituary

Frederick Joseph Koch died on October 23, 2024, at the age of 89 in Apollo Beach, FL. Fred is survived by his wife Mary Lou Koch (nee Brochhagen); his children, Constance Isely and Alexandra Koch; and his grandchildren, Jackson Todd, Charlotte Stone and Beckley Todd and his sister, Kathy Moessinger. He was predeceased by his daughter Anastasia Koch.

Fred was born in New York City on January 12, 1935, to Ewald Koch and Maria Louise Fernandez. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1957 with a Business Degree. He was a lifelong devoted member of the Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity Chapter of Manhattan College. After graduation he served 18 months in the United States Army. He spent 2 years as a seminarian at the St. Paul's Passionist Seminary in Pittsburgh from 1958 to 1960. The church remained a central pillar throughout his life. Fred then built a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry, working and raising his family in New York, New Jersey, Brazil and Peru.

He married Mary Lou on July 28, 1962. They met at a YCA meeting. Within 10 days they became engaged and six months later they were married. On August 12, 1963, on August 15, 1964 and May 8, 1969 respectively, he welcomed his three beautiful daughters, Constance, Alexandra and Anastasia, the most important part of his life. Fred was a devoted father.

An outstanding high school and college athlete, he distinguished himself as the New York City Schools Broad Jump Champion of 1950; he was a classic car enthusiast owning a prize winning 1965 skylight blue Ford Mustang. He was also an avid builder of model airplanes and enjoyed reading. He was an important member of many church communities in his life, in particular The Immaculate Conception in Wilmington, NC and finally at St. Anne's Church in Ruskin, FL. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11AM on January 3, 2025 at St. Anne's Church in Ruskin, FL. The service will be officiated by Father Anthony Astrab followed by an inurnment at Resurrection Cemetery in Seffner, FL.
