Obituary

Gary Gene Ingoldsby, of Wimauma, Florida and formerly, St. Peters, MO, passed away in Florida on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the age of 80 from complications of Diabetes and Renal Kidney failure.

Gary was born in Moline, IL in 1941, son of Wendell Wesley and Zelda Bernice (Mansfied) Ingoldsby. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Joan (Hill) Ingoldsby, his brother, Roger Ross Ingoldsby and parents, Wendell and Bernice. He is survived by his sister Carol (Larry) Grove who resides in Chatham, IL and his wife, Dianne Ingoldsby, Wimauma, Florida.

Gary had a large extended family that he cherished. He married Betty Janssen, currently in Broken Arrow, OK and they had his daughter, Lori (Jim) Ingoldsby Gaffney. Lori and Jim gave him 3 Grandchildren Erin, Emily and Eric and those 3 Grandchildren gave him 6 Great-grandchildren, Kane, Karson, Cameron, Austin, Levi, and Mylah.

Gary married the late Barbara J. Ingoldsby, of St. Peters, MO, and was married for over 43 years. Diane Rich of St. Peters, was his step-daughter and Gary had 2 additional children with Barbara, Susan (Chris) Boyd of St. Peters, MO and Brian (Tiffany) Ingoldsby of Eagle, CO. Susan gave him 2 Grandchildren, Megan and Hugh. Brian gave him two additional Grandchildren, Olivia and Carter.

Gary added to his family when he married Ruth 'Dianne' Halstead in 2017. Her family had been friends and business partners with Wendell and Bernice in Springfield, IL. They had remained friends over the years and united after both had widowed. They moved to Florida and made a lovely home, with their favorite dog, Bella. Dianne was very loving and supportive during his change in health.

Gary put himself through college at SIU Edwardsville and became an accomplished salesman. He continued in his sales career selling anything from hobby supplies, floral and Christmas decorations to Halloween and party supplies. He loved his clients and remained in contact with many of them, as long time friends. In fact, he was still working with several clients, up until his last days.

Gary was involved in the City of Bridgeton, MO community through government and the Jaycees. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, reading, entertaining guests, and traveling. He continued his love of travel as he got older, visiting family, clients and friends and of course continued his love of food and wine. Gary had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke.

Gary recently celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends this past April. Family and Friends were very important in his life and he was very proud of them…..and told them so. Gary could be described as caring, loving, reliable and was always willing to help someone.

"Big G" you will be missed, you filled a large place in our hearts. He was a very proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle.

"The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind."

A Celebration of Life will be held in Cottleville, MO at a later date.
