Gerald Maynard Curwin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife Joan and son Ronnie on August 1, 2019 at the age of 83.
Gerry, or "Papa" as he was known by his grandchildren, was born in Rexton in 1936 and lived in Moncton, where he married his first wife of 43 years, Elizabeth (Betty). After Betty passed in 1998, he met Joan, his wife of 16 years, in Florida and they married in 2003. He lived the remainder of his life in Florida with Joan. He was the son of the late Ralph and Marjorie Grace (Clark) Curwin. Gerry was a fun, loving, kind gentlemen, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. Gerry started out as a messenger for CN and then became a Technician Installer for CNT, which became Unitel where he retired.
Gerry was a sports fan watching hockey, football, baseball and golf. He played horseshoes, darts and pro shuffleboard, where he won trophies and awards. He enjoyed playing golf with his golf buddies.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years Joan, children of his first marriage Brenda, Rob, Nancy (Chris Tracey) Bruce, Brian (Inger), grandchildren Lauren, Cory and Annika, loved by the children of the second marriage Robin (Javier Hernandez), Rhonda (Ron Carrigan), Roxane (Richard Langford) Ron (Leslie), Richard (Laurie), grandchildren Jamie, Kristi (Steve Tucker), Ryan, Haley and Jaykob, great grandchildren Alayna, Ethan and Sophia, survived and loved by his sister Betty Swetnam, brothers William (Linda) and Allister (Christine). He was predeceased by his first wife Betty, sister Anna LeBlanc, brothers Ralph, Donald, James, Robert, Clark and Claude.
There will be a celebration of life held with his Florida family at Life Path Hospice in Sun City FL (3725 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin Fl 33573) on August 17 at 2:00pm. He will then travel to Canada to celebrate his life and be buried in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations in Gerry's name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
