Faber, Gerald H. (75) of Apollo Beach, FL and formerly of Bethel Park, PA, Mentor, OH and St Paul, MN died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home. Jerry served in the US Navy from 1953-1957 as a Hospital Corpsman. He was stationed at Great Lakes NAS and Bethesda NAS. He remained in the Naval Reserves until 1961. During his enlistment he was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Medal. He attended Penn State University and completed a degree in Engineering. He specialized in industrial control equipment. He retired in 2006. He was very active in local organizations: American Legion, Eagles, Elks, Florida Redneck Goatropers, Moose, Moose Legion, and VFW. He held offices in the Eagles, Elks, & VFW. Jerry was an avid golfer which was a great passion and he enjoyed bowling, softball, gambling, traveling, cards, fishing and cruising. Jerry lived in the Cleveland area before building a home near Pittsburgh, PA where he raised his family. For a time he lived briefly in Mt. Laurel, NJ and Wilmington, DE before moving to Deltona, FL. Eventually he moved to the Tampa area and finally settled in Apollo Beach. He was preceded by the death of his wife Elizabeth in 2005 and is survived by Susan Cunningham (Steve) and their daughter Cara of Columbus, OH, Cheryl Cramer and her children Brittany & Reed of Riverview, FL and by Timothy Faber (Robin) and his two sons Ryan and Seth of Lutz, FL. Also surviving are his sister Donna Martin of St Paul, MN and her children Barbara, Michael, Richard, David and Kelli also of MN. Jerry remarried in 2008 and is survived by his wife Denise and her children James Kerr and Carrie Kerr both of Meadville, PA. There are many other nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to mention who mourn his loss. A memorial service will be held at VFW #6287 on January 22, 2011@ 11 am. A military honor guard will be present. In lieu of flowers or other, a donation to LifePath Hospice in his name is appreciated.
