Gertrude Carmen Jaeger was born on June 19, 1928, in Benson, to parents Reinhart and Emma Simonson Mitteness. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Benson and attended country school at District #65 in Torning Township. Gertrude was united in marriage to Kenneth Jaeger in Benson. This union was blessed with two children. Kenneth passed away in 1969. Gertrude married Ray Aslakson in 1985. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She enjoyed Polka music, bird watching, scratching lottery tickets, and baking. Gertrude was called from this life on April 29, 2011 at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck. She attained the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 10 days. Gertrude is survived by her son Kevin (Julie) Jaeger of Benson; five grandchildren, Melissa (Tad) Naig, Chris Jaeger, Ricky (Emily) Nelson, Ryan Jaeger, and Cody Jaeger; two great grand children, Camille and Chloe Naig, a brother Roger (Julie) Mitteness, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands Kenneth Jaeger and Ray Aslakson, parents Reinhart and Emma, a daughter Kathy Nelson, a sister Elaine Dahl, a brother Leonard Mitteness, two infant sisters Evelyn and Marlys, and an infant brother Charles.
