Helen Christine Cooley, age 68, of Alma, Ga. died early Sunday morn-ing June 19th, 2011 at the Bacon County Hospital in Ga. after a short illness. She was a native of Parrish, but had lived in Alma since 2005. She was daughter of the late Ferman Downing and Amanda Louise Tilly Downing and was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Darrell Cooley, Sr., two brothers, Floyd and Travis Down-ing and a sister, Lorraine Siltzer. Helen Christine was retired from the Palmetto Pines Golf Course after many years of employment and a member of the Parrish First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Glenn Darrell Coo-ley, Jr., Daniel Lee Cooley and wife Wendy all of Alma, two daughters, Glenda Carter and hus-band Bill of Ellenton, Kaye Childress and hus-band David of Parrish, a brother, Jim Downing of Bradenton. Also, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren sur-vive. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Thursday from the chapel of Zip-perers Funeral Home in Ruskin, FL. The family will be receiving friends at Zipperer's Funeral Home from 9a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 o'clock. Interment will follow in Fortner Cemetery in Parrish, FL. Active pallbearers will be, Dan and Darrell Cooley, David Childress, Ray Oxendine, Bill Carter and Jim Downing.
