Obituary

Herman J DeBuhr, age 91 of Appleton passed away April 5, 2012 at the Appleton Area Health Services after 35 years of paralyzed disability. Herman was born May 28, 1920 to Fred and Frederica (Rolfsmeier) DeBuhr in the farm home near Correll. He was baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton, Confirmed in Correll Lutheran Church in 1933. He married Ethel L. Ehrenberg on April 29, 1945 in the Shible Lutheran Church rural Appleton. They were blessed with 3 children: Ken (Carol) DeBuhr of Correll, Sharon (Bruce) Schmidt of Appleton and Gayle (Brad) Harris of Peoria, Arizona and two grandson's Steve (Stephanie) DeBuhr of Gilbert, Arizona and Bradley (Kelsi) Harris of Peoria, Arizona and one great grand-son, Jacob DeBuhr of Gilbert, Arizona and one step-granddaughter Chyanna Schmidt of Appleton.Herman graduated from Correll High School in 1938 and made farming his work career until his accident in 1977.He loved working on his wood turning lathes and dishtowel painting. Before his accident, Ethel and Herman enjoyed traveling through out Minnesota and adjoining states in their pick-up camper. After his accident, Herman enjoyed driving and sight-seeing in his home area. He had been an Akron township board member for some time, a school board member for a number of years, a member of Big Stone County F.H.A committee for the allowable years of time and served as a church council position at Grace Lutheran Church, Correll. He also was a charter member of the Appleton T.V. system. Herman helped his wife with household chores that he could do with his disability. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ethel, in 2010, his parents, two brothers and one infant sister in W.W.I flu epidemic.
