Ina Ruth Meredith-Smith, AGE 84, of Bonifay, FL, passed away October 4, 2012. Ruth was born, 16 July 1928, to Charlie Casper and Ida May Meredith in Andalusia, Alabama. She lived there on the family sharecropper farm until her parents moved to Plant City, Florida when she was 9 yrs old. Later they moved to Ruskin where she would later raise her own family. On 29 March 1944, she married Ira Gilbert Smith; a marriage that ended only with the death of Gilbert 61-years later. In addition to her unwavering faith in and love for her Lord, Ruth was well-known for her loving kindness, her civic-mindedness, and for an unfaltering dedication to family and friends. She was especially known for her active participation in the education and school activities of her children. Each of them benefited from her guidance, support and encouragement throughout their school years in all of their academic, sports, musical and many other extra-curricular activities. In 1963, she received a special recognition as the East Bay High School "Parent of the Year". She also received "Ruskin Woman of the Year". Out of all her accomplishments and awards, however, her most prized award was being "Mom" and "Nano". Survivors include son, Gilbert E. (Gene) Smith of Florissant, CO; son, Jimmy M. Smith, daughter-in-law, Mary C. Charron-Smith of Evergreen, CO; son, Bobby L. Smith of Bonifay, FL; daughter Sheila K. Smith and her partner Sheila A. Serrao of Bradenton, FL; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren. Viewing will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, October 11th at Zipperer's Funeral Home, Ruskin, Florida. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Fellowship Cemetery, Balm/Wimauma, Florida following.
