Obituary

Irene Viola (Dahl) Schwandt was born on August 7, 1922 in Boyd, MN to parents Fern (Herridge) and Oscar Dahl. She was baptized on September 24, 1922 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd and confirmed at LacQui Parle Lutheran Church in Dawson on December 6, 1936. She attended school in Grantsburg, Wisconsin.On December 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Raymond Schwandt in Montevideo. They were blessed with two children, Marlo and Debra, and enjoyed more than 46 years of marriage until Ray's death in 1987. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. She enjoyed embroidery, playing cards and baking her ever famous sour cream raisin pies. She touched the lives of many children as a Foster Grandparent at the Appleton Elementary School. At the time of her death, she had recently celebrated her 87th birthday.She is survived by her son Marlo of Houston, Texas; daughter Debra and son-in-law Stephen Paulson of Minnetonka; 5 grandchildren: Michele Schwandt of Minneapolis, Scott and Robert Schwandt of Houston, Texas, Kirsten and Kendrick Paulson of Minnetonka; 5 great grandchildren: Cory, Cole, Landon, Jacob and Madison Schwandt of Texas; many nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law Bruno Schwandt of Appleton and Ray Thompson of Missouri.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, brother Duane Dahl, sister Alta Mae Thompson, and sister-in-law Elaine Schwandt.
