Obituary for Jack Harry Chaille -
October 30, 1922 to July 30, 2016
Son of Harry and Merle Patterson Chaille,
Jack Harry Chaille was born in Kokomo, Indiana,
and graduated Lebanon High School 1941.
Jack served 38 months and rose to the rank of First Sargeant
in the 811th Tank Destroyer Battalion of George Patton's Third Army
that fought against Hitler in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was married in 1945 to the love of his life, Joan Edwards, for 71 years.
Jack spent almost his entire career operating his own
Indianapolis based sales distribution company,
selling ambulances, hearses, tow trucks, and buses.
He retired in 1986 and, he and Joan moved to Sun City Center, FL in 1988.
He was a member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite,
Murat Shrine Temple, American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution,
and Caloossa Golf and Country Club, and spent 15 years in the Sun City Security Patrol.
Jack was literally a 'jack of all trades' as he helped
so many others with his knowledge of repairs, gardening,
woodworking, and all-round mechanical abilities.
He even wrote and published a book about his 30 years of
genealogical research on the Chaille name, entitled -
THE CHAILLES IN FRANCE AND AMERICA.
Jack and Joan were beloved members of every community
in which they lived over their 93 years.
Jack is survived by his daughter Rebecca Renner,
son and daughter-in-law Andrew John Chaille
and Mary Elizabeth Chaille and their two children,
John Hoover Chaille and Amelia Elizabeth Chaille.
He is preceded in death by his wife Joan Edwards Chaille,
daughter Penelope Weaver, son Samuel Albert Chaille,
grandson Lincoln Christopher Kaplan, and Jack's two sisters
Mary Josephine Osgood and Helen Stillwell.
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana,
his home town.
A date for celebration of his and Joan's life to be announced.
