Jack Warren Griffin, 81, Apollo Beach Florida, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 15, 2013. Jack was born on November 3, 1931 to Catherine Griffin in Indianapolis, IN. Jack is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Maher (Patrick), his younger brother, Harry Griffin, his two beloved cats Rosie and Chloe, step sons, Charles II, Jim (Debbie) Baker, step grandchildren, Andrea Baker and Amanda Brooks, step great grandchildren, Joshua Robinson, Emily and Nathan Brooks.
Jack was very proud of his H.S. band, "Johnny Warren" (his Catholic name) where he was the drummer. Jack graduated from Cathedral H.S. He served in the National Guard before reporting for active duty with the U.S. Army. Jack won many trophies for his prized boxer dog.
Jack was never one to make his generosity known; he didn't do it for the recognition but for his devotion to helping others. Some of Jack's important charities were; St. Joseph's Indian School, Salvation Army, and St. Jude's National Shrine, to name a few.
After leaving the Army, Jack soon began the career of his calling, real estate. Jack lived and breathed real estate; hence his email name was Equityman. Jack and his wife Ida, who passed in 2011, moved to Florida close to 30 years ago and he immediately became involved in the local real estate business. His excitement was in "chasing and catching the deal" and one of his favorite sayings was "three nickels are better than one dime".
He never met a stranger and was constantly making new friends. Jack was always one to offer advice, solicited or not. He was an active member of investment groups such as The Core Group and The Tampa Bay Real Estate Round Table where he had several dear friends. Jack was an active member of Toastmasters 1810 were he enjoyed mentoring new comers and being a part of a very active group of individuals whom he called friends.
Jack died doing what he loved, spending time with his Toastmasters family and always working on that next deal. God broke the mold when he made Jack. God must have needed an Equity Man in heaven because he has the best one there ever was or will be.
