Jean M. Mauch was born July 17, 1920, in Goodrich, North Dakota, the daughter of Richard and Emma (Krugar) Augustadt. She was baptized in 1954 at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Benson. Jean grew up in Goodrich and attended school there. She went on to graduate from Mankato State College, where she received her teaching certificate. On September 1, 1946, Jean was united in marriage to Marvin Mauch in Goodrich by Rev. McGregor. This union was blessed with two children. Together, Jean and Marvin were able to share in 62 years of marriage. Jean taught two years each in Watertown, MN, Ruthton, MN, and Hope, ND. Jean was a loving mother and devoted wife. Jean was a charter member of the Women's Fellowship Evening Circle at her church. Among the things she enjoyed were ceramics, reading, flower gardening, and dancing. Jean spent the last two years of her life in the loving care of the Glenwood Retirement Village. She passed away Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood. She attained the age of 88 years, 10 months and 14 days. Jean is survived by her husband, Marvin; her children: Deborah (Ray) Holmes of Lowry and Brian Mauch of St. Paul; two grandchildren: Russell (Molly) Holmes and Matthew (finance Emily) Holmes; two great grandchildren, Dylan Holmes and Jackson Holmes; one sister Verla Winsett of Aurora, CO; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and Emma; and a beloved grandson, Andrew "Andy" Holmes.
