Jeannette R
Swietlicki
October 9, 1928 – May 19, 2026
Jeannette Swietlicki, age 97, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026.
She was born on October 9, 1928 to Alfred & Maria Roy. Her exceptional strength of character was forged by the Great Depression and a World War, and she was always a ready source of wisdom and life experience. She lived a long and meaningful life centered around family and anchored by love and friendships.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edward in 2002. Together they enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 52 years! As a couple, they were remarkably compatible in a way that is rarely seen. They raised their family in Farmington, CT, and retired to Florida in 1990 to be closer to their children.
She is survived by her son John Switt & wife Dawn, and her daughter Jane Gallo & husband Randy. Five grandchildren: Kyle Switt, Erin Garcia & husband Rica, and Colleen Switt; and Audrey Bannon and Sean Bannon. Also, three great-grands: Sebastian, Grace, & Demi Garcia. All the children affectionately knew her as "Grandma Nette."
Jeannette also had three sisters: Rita Bartlett of Farmington, CT; and the late Teresa Carcia and late Doris Murtha.
Jeannette worked for Aetna in both Connecticut and Florida, building a career marked by hard work and dedication. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and loved watching her Rays, Lightning, and Buccaneers. She also enjoyed game shows, dancing, and music. She always had a tune for every occasion. Jeannette & Eddie made good use of their timeshare vacations and always invited their children along to share in the adventures.
Most of all Jeannette cherished time with her family. When she relocated to Sun City Center, she wisely chose a home with a nice swimming pool. There she'd host many a holiday and family gathering while the kiddies splashed around, filling the air with shouts and giggles. She was an excellent cook, homemaker, and babysitter extraordinaire. She made the kind of fun memories that will echo through our lifetimes.
Those who knew Jeannette will remember her devotion to family, her easy conversation, and the nurturing love she gave throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, fond memories, and family bonds that will continue for generations.
"And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count; it's the life in your years." Our Jeannette was truly blessed in both regards. She will be forever missed.
