John Arthur Retallick Jr., 88, passed away on July 13, 2009 in Sun City Center, FL. He was born in Lonaconing, MD, on December 25, 1920 to John Arthur and Edith G. Mackay Retallick. John graduated from Lonaconing High School. He enlisted in the Army in March, 1942, earned many medals, and was honorably discharged in October, 1954 as a Second Lieutenant. John met and married the love of his life, Valerene Estelle MacAnson, from Milwaukee, WI, on May 3, 1952, in Hartford, CT. John worked for Black and Decker for awhile while they lived in Wethersfield, CT. He ran his own very successful antiques and art business for many years. He was an artist is in own right and restored many old paintings. They moved to Florida in 1976 when he retired and have lived in Bonita Springs and Sun City Center. John was a published author of the book "The Llewellyns." He was preceded in death by his parents. John is survived by his wife, Valerene, sister Virginia E. Rowan of Sun City Center, and son John Arthur Retallick III and wife Kendra of Napa, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Care Inc., 1528 27th St SE, Ruskin, FL (813-645-2273).
