Joseph "Joe" Francis Cannon was born on March 1, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Joseph B. and Rose (McQuaid) Cannon. He was called from this life on Friday afternoon, May 15th, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He had attained the age of 81 years, 2 months and 14 days. Joe was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in DeGraff, MN. He grew up north of DeGraff and attended country school in Kildare Township. On June 23, 1953, Joe was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Frerich at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids, MN. To this union eleven children were born. Together Joe and Marjorie were able to share in 55 years of marriage. Joe and Marjorie farmed north of DeGraff until 1963. Joe worked during the winters for Tyler's manufacturing in Benson. He worked road construction for Dunnick's from 1963 to 1974. He continued to work as a Millwright, repairing grain elevators until his retirement. Joe was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Murdock and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Among the things Joe enjoyed were hunting, fishing, playing cards and socializing with his family and many friends. Joe is survived by his wife: Marjorie Cannon of Murdock, MN; his children: Michael Cannon of DeGraff, MN, Patrick (Renee) Cannon of Benson, MN, Francis (Linda) Cannon of Hutchinson, MN, Rita (David) Wolf of Clara City, MN, Rose (Robert) Beauchamp of Rice, MN, Ruth (Dave) Arends of Belgrade, MN, Renae (Monte) Storms of Hutchinson, MN, Timothy (Vicki) Cannon of Morris, MN, Gregory (Martina) Cannon of Redwood Falls, MN and Roxane Cannon of Cambridge, MN; and 21 grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Rose Cannon; and one son: Kenneth Cannon.
