Joseph
Janus
Nov 15, 1945 — Oct 28, 2026
RUSKIN
Joseph Edward Janus age 80 passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026 in Ruskin, FL. Born on November 14, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, Joe lived a life filled with love.
Joe was the beloved husband of Sandy Janus, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, devotion and partnership until her death on March 16, 2026. Together they built a beautiful family, and family was at the heart of Joe’s life. He was a proud father to his three children, Jeffrey Joseph Janus, Jason Edward Janus, and SheaAnn Janus-Mellendorf (Married to Matthew Mellendorf), as well as his beloved grandchildren, Joseph Janus, Madeline Phillips, Jaclyn Janus, and Julie Janus.
He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Sandra Janus; his granddaughter, Shannon Janus; and his grandson, James Janus. Joe cherished the life he built with Sandra and the family they shared, and nothing brought him more happiness than having the people he loved close by.
Joe loved spending his life outdoors. Fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden were among his favorite pastimes and remained an important part of his days. He also enjoyed playing euchre, reading, and watching Jeopardy. Relaxing evenings with Sandy were a cherished part of his life, as were the many moments he spent playing games and simply being together with family.
Above all, Joe treasured time with his family. His grandchildren brought him particular happiness, and being surrounded by those closest to him was one of the great constants of his life. Whether outdoors, gathered around the card table, or enjoying a quiet evening at home, Joe found happiness in life’s familiar routines and the company of the people he loved.
Joseph “Joe” Janus will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family and to Sandy, the simple pleasures he appreciated throughout his life, and the countless everyday moments that became cherished memories for those who loved him.
