Obituary

Joyce Ellen Brown was born on January 22, 1943, in Montevideo to John I. and Edith B. (Parks) Johnson. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Joyce attended country school at District #69 east of Appleton and graduated from Appleton High School in 1960.She worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis for a year before marrying Richard Brown on July 21, 1962. After their marriage Joyce lived on farms east of Appleton and worked as a homemaker the rest of her life. After their marriage she transferred to the First Congregational Church in Appleton and then joined Zion Lutheran Church for many years. In 2006 she became a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. Joyce loved traveling, reading, needle point, and participating with the Mrs. Jaycees.Joyce died on Sunday afternoon, November 8, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar after a long battle with lung cancer. She had attained 66 years, 9 months, and 16 days of age.She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Appleton; three daughters: Michele Brown of Faribault, Renae Brown of St. Cloud, and Kimberly (Brent) Stewart of Darwin; granddaughter, Brooke Stetler; brother, Albert (Joanne) Johnson and sister Arlene (Robert) Thompson both of Appleton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents, John I. and Edith Johnson.
