Obituary

Joyce Ruth Marcum (Nanny), who grew up in Green Pond, AL, went to be with Jesus on May 28, 2021. At the time of her death she was living in Apollo Beach, FL, with her daughter Debbra Canterberry. Debbra and Andrew Rodriguez had taken loving care of her for three years. Joyce had been a resident of Quinton, AL, for many years and later resided in McCalla, AL.

She loved people, reading, traveling, and gardening. She also got great enjoyment from preparing meals for extended family and friends. She was feisty and could most often be seen in bright colors, especially her hats. Joyce added a lively spirit wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Henry F. Marcum; her mother, Mary Green; her brother, Oscar Clay Green; her sister, Mickey Steadings; and her great grandson Brannon Patterson.

She is survived by her three daughters: Portia M. Finch (Wesley), Debbra M. Canterberry (Andrew), and Cindy M Davis (Rick). Joyce is also survived by her sister Jimmie Hopkins, her brother Irvin Green and her sister-in-law Ewell Dillard. She treasured her grand children and great grand children: Billy Finch, Heather Sims (John), Ford Davis (Elizabeth), Beau Canterberry, Eli Davis, Payton Sims, Tristen Finch, Sophie Sims, Grayson Davis, Moira Davis, and Charlotte Davis.

We want to thank Andrew's family for including Mama as one of their own. We also want to thank Shirley and Rob Marchant for their great love for Joyce. She loved them as family.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 26, 2021, at the School House in Tannehill State Park in McCalla, AL. Upon arrival, please inform gate personnel you are attending the Marcum memorial service; gate fees will be paid by the Marcum family.
We invite all who attend to eat with us since Joyce wanted one more time to serve those she loved by providing a meal one last time.

Your prayers are appreciated.
