Wayne Amundson was born August 26, 1928, in Pembina County, ND, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Molden) Amundson. He grew up in the Big Bend/Hagen area and attended country school in Big Bend. Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On January 30, 1954, Wayne was united in marriage to Marie Weimerskirch at Belgrade, Minnesota. They were blessed with six children and 56 years of marriage. Wayne was owner/operator of Amundson's Inc. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Gilchrist, eating candy bars, visiting the lake and the farm, the dogs, going for walks, playing the piano and singing songs sometimes in Norwegian. Wayne was called from this life on Friday April 16, 2010 at Burns Manor in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He attained the age of 81 years, 7 months and 20 days. Wayne is survived by wife, Marie of Benson; children: Nancy Perrizo (John Fitzpatrick) of Hattisberg, MS, Deanna Amundson of Glenwood, Linda (Darcy) Amundson of Kerkhoven, Lauri (Dave) Mathiowetz of Lester Prairie, Steve (Molly) Amundson of Scottsdale, AZ , and Dan (Gail) Amundson of Bloomington; grand-children: Karla Perrizo (CJ Stavinoha), Michael (Devon) Amundson, Darin (Gretchen) Amundson, Adam Amundson (fiancé Staci Brickson), Teresa (Laughton) Crout, Bria Amundson, Ashli Fitzpatrick, Jack Fitzpatrick, Kelsey Amundson, Hannah Amundson; great grand-children: Kallyn & Kaden Amundson, Spenser & Ajay Amundson, Patrick & Jack Stavinoha; a sister Darlene (Al) Lee of Coos Bay, OR, sister-in-law, Mrs. Russell (Alvina) Amundson of Benson, special friends Marvin Johnson, Norman Hoffman, Roger Grothe, Don and Joan Lenz and Dori and Lyle Popma and many nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Arthur, sister Adeline Nordby and brothers Alfred, Russell, Ray and Walter.
