Karen Jane Twombly, age 68, of Sun City Center, Florida (formerly Winslow, Maine) went home to be with her Lord & Savior on May 2, after fighting a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Clinton, MO on October 27, 1943, the daughter of the late Wesley & Jane Orth. She was raised in Missouri and Virginia, and she graduated in 1961 from Petersburg High School, Petersburg, Virginia. She attended Southwestern Junior College in Chula Vista, California, where she met her soon to be husband, Frank Twombly, on his first day there! They were married on December 17, 1966, in Chula Vista, where they lived for the next 18 years, and where their 3 wonderful children were born and raised. During their time in California she worked for Sherwood R. Gordon Broadcasting Company, Rohr Aircraft Corporation, and Seacoast Insurance Services as a secretary. She and her husband were called to serve in ministry at Winslow Baptist Church in Winslow, Maine from 1987- 2004, where she served as the Head of Women's Ministries while Frank served as the Senior Pastor. They were then called to serve in Florida at Faithworx, First Baptist Church of Apollo Beach, where she led Women's Ministries for the past 7 years.
