Obituary

Larry Dean Holmgren was born on February 3, 1949, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of Einar and Lena (Van Hauen) Holmgren. He was called from this life on Friday morning, April 27th at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck, Minnesota. He attained the age of 63 years, 2 months and 24 days. Larry was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He grew up in the Murdock area, where he and his family attended the St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond, Minnesota. He graduated from the Murdock High School in 1967 and went on to attend college in Willmar for two years. On June 13, 1970, Larry was united in marriage to Roselyn "Rose" M. Farmer at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Raymond. Together Larry and Rose were able to share in 41 years of marriage. Larry and Rose had lived in Benson and Kerkhoven for a short time. They moved back to Benson in 1987. In 1980, Larry started the Holmgren Sign Company in Benson. Larry loved the outdoors and enjoyed putt zing around in his garage. He always seemed to have many projects going. Among the things he enjoyed were cooking and baking. Larry is survived by his wife: Rose of Benson, MN; two sons: Jonathan (Suzanna) Holmgren of Shelly, MN and Aaron Holmgren of Benson, MN; nine grandchildren: Cassandra Ascheman, Courtnee Ascheman, Tara Holmgren, Cody Holmgren, Adam Holmgren, Brandon Schwartz, Cheyenne Holmgren, Aiden Holmgren and Ava Holmgren; one great-grandson: Bentley Ascheman; two step-grandchildren: Sage and Jessa. Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Einar and Lena Holmgren.
