Lavera (Vera) Marian (Grimm) Baker (92) of Sun City Center joined her
husband Maurice in heaven on September 24, 2018 while under Lifepath
hospice care at her home at Cypress Creek Assisted Living Residence.
Vera was born in St Louis, Missouri to Clem and Emma (Schnatmeyer) Grimm.
Vera was preceeded in death by her brother Clem Grimm Jr and her son-in-
law Ron Lammers. She is survived by her children Maureen(Mo) Lammers and
Gary(Jan) Baker, grandchildren Cory(Shawn) Calhoun and Kurt(Lori) Baker,
and great children Kayla Baker, Cole Derenbecker, Chase Derenbecker,
Madison Calhoun, and Mackenzie Calhoun.
Vera and Maury moved to Sun City Center after Maury retired in Illinois.
Vera and Maury were avid Airstreamers who loved traveling the United States as
members of the Wally Byam Caravan club and visiting their many family
members across the country. Vera enjoyed volunteering at South Bay
Hospital in Sun City Center, working at Nearly New and also doing
different types of craft projects (needlepoint, jewelry, Christmas
Ornaments, knitting, etc). She was also active at her United Methodist
Church in Sun City Center.
Vera and Maury also had started and loved circulating the family circle
letter for over 50 years that was used by Maury's (9 siblings) large
family to keep in touch and highlight everyone's lives.
Vera has been interned with Maury in the Memorial Gardens of the Sun City
Center United Methodist Church in a private ceremony. No formal service
is planned at this time. A memorial of life celebration is planned for a
later date in Louisiana.
The family requests any memorial donations to be directed to Cypress
Creek Assisted Living Residence or Lifepath Hospice.
