Lida Amanda Svea was born February 18, 1910, in Revillo, South Dakota, the daughter of Abraham and Magrethe (Mathiason) Sather. She was baptized in Revillo, and confirmed into the Christian faith at Immanual Lutheran Church in Benson by Pastor Strand. She grew up on the family farm in Cashel Township, Swift County, Minnesota. Lida attended school at District #21 through the eighth grade. On July 29, 1931, Lida was united in marriage to Leonard M. Svea at the Sather family home. They were blessed with two children and 61 years of marriage. Lida and Leonard farmed in Cashel Township for many years. They retired to Benson. Lida was a member of Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson. She was called from this life on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood, Washington. She attained the age of 99 years, 11 months and 24 days. Lida is survived by her children: LaVonne (Walter) Wisler of Palm Springs, CA and Ardis (Del) Larson of Camano Island, WA; eight grandchildren: Scott Sheire, Denise Conger, Carol Hurysz, Gary Sheire, Brian Wisler, Julie Shallow, James Larson, and Jodi Dashiell; seventeen great grandchildren; and eleven great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard in 1993; her parents, Abraham and Magrethe; one granddaughter, Laura Jean Sheire; one great granddaughter, Amy Hurysz; and brothers and sisters.
