Obituary

96 of Sun City Center, Florida for the last ten years of her life,
passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at her home.

She was born in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the
late Earnest L. Hamilton and Anna S. Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years,
John C. Gibson, and her first-born son, John David Gibson.

She was a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business School in Buffalo.
Prior to her marriage, she worked at United Motor Service, a division of General Motors.

After raising four sons and being a stay-at-home mother for 30 years,
she went back to work in Chappaqua, NY as a real estate office manager.
After retiring to Flat Rock, NC in 1974,
she worked as an office manager at Haile & Haile Realty,
then as a representative of the Henderson County Travel and Tourism center in Hendersonville, NC until she retired in 2000 at age 82.
She was a past member of the YMCA Board and Health Board in Hendersonville.

She was a member of the Hendersonville Country Club and
a board member of the Flat Rock Playhouse in Flat Rock, NC.
She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hendersonville, NC, and the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center

She is survived by four sons,
Robert H. Gibson and his wife Jane, of Riverview, CA,
Thomas L. Gibson and his wife Sylvia of Bradenton, FL,
Paul C. Gibson and his wife Mary Lou of St. Augustine, FL,
and Philip J. Gibson and his wife Penny of Conroe, TX.
She is also survived by two sisters, Mary H. Weed of York, PA,
and Marge H. Grant of Houston, TX, 14 grandchildren,
15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

After moving to Sun City Center in 2005 to be closer to family,
she became active in numerous community bridge groups in Sun City Center.
She was gregarious and outgoing,
accumulating myriad friends throughout her lifetime,
all of whom she closely nurtured.
She was often and fondly referred to as
"Mama Linda" by many of her friends.
She radiated peace, kindness and love like no other.
We should all inherit her joy.

She was a shining example of all that is the best in womanhood and parenting.
Her secrets to happiness were to always look at the bright side of life,
always say something good about others, and always laugh.

She will be interred with her late husband in Hendersonville, NC, at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life
at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Sun City Center
on Friday February 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM,
with a reception to follow
