Lula Jean Todd, 86, of White Plains, Maryland, passed peacefully in her sleep on January 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Lula was born on March 6,1938 in Bedford County, Virginia to Albert and Maggie Tuck, the tenth of twelve children. She often shared the unique detail that she and her siblings were born in perfect order: boy, girl, boy, girl all the way down the line.
Lula was a devoted mother and grandmother, and friend to many. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them. Known for her warmth and generosity and as an exceptional cook, she cherished preparing meals for her family and took joy in hosting Christmas Eve celebrations, with her delicious coconut cake at the center of the festivities.
In addition to her love of family, Lula enjoyed dancing and treasured her time at the Richard R Clark Senior Center, where she participated in line dancing classes with her friends. Lula's kindness, laughter and unwavering love will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Lula was proceeded in death by her husbands, Paul "Jack" Smallwood and James Todd, as well as her daughter, Vicky Smallwood McDonough, and her long-time partner, Angelo "Jeep" Monachino. Jr.
She leaves behind daughters, Susan Smallwood Wickens (Jeff) and Paula Smallwood McDonough (John), grandchildren Derek Hurlburt (Anne Marie), Paul Brown (Betty), Robert Brown, Nicki Ellis (Rik), Daniel Brown, Lisa Bowersox (Kyle), and Kacey McDonough, as well as great-grandchildren, Corie Harder, Bradley Hill, Trevor Hurlburt, Landon Brown, Jackson Ellis, Milo Brown, Madelyn Bowersox and Lucas Bowersox.
The visitation will be held at New Life Church in the Kneeling Point Chapel, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, LaPlata, Maryland on February 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM with the service immediately afterwards at 12 noon.
A private family internment will follow at a later time.
