Luther Earl Engle, 89, of Ruskin passed away Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Sun City Center Hospice House. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marguerite; children, Ruth Lamb of LaPorte, Ind., Retha Smith of Knoxville,Tenn., Alaine Plis of Ruskin, Fla. and Anita Engle of Ruskin, Fla.; brothers, Levi of Keavy, Ky, Loyd Engle of LaPorte, Ind. and Layton Engle of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents, Matt and Mollie (Eaton) Engle and his son, Larry Engle. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from Allis Chalmers in 1978. Luther was an avid bowler for over 50 years and shared his knowledge and love of the game as a youth bowling coach for 20 years he also was an inductee of the La Porte Bowling Hall of Fame. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., October 10, 2009, at Ruskin Memorial Post 6287.
