Mabel Louise Zielsdorf, was born April 6, 1912, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the child of Richard and Lena (Shult) Brummer. She was baptized in Iowa and confirmed in the German Lutheran Church in Glenwood City, Wisconsin. She spent her childhood in Glenwood City, Wisconsin, and Danvers, Minnesota. She married Alfred Zielsdorf at the Brummer farm on June 6, 1932. This union was blessed with three children. They settled on a farm south of Benson, where she was an excellent home maker and helped Alfred on the farm and with the animals. Mabel then moved into an apartment in Benson in 1971. She moved to the Parkview Manor in 1980, where she loved her many friendships and activities, especially playing Bingo and visiting. She moved to the Meadow Lane Health Care Center in 2002. Mabel enjoyed gardening, baking, and canning. She was an extraordinarily great cook. She loved her grandchildren and was extremely proud of her family. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and was involved in women's activities at St. John's Lutheran Church for many years. Mabel was called from this life on Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Benson. She attained the age of 96 years, 8 months, and 3 days. Mabel is survived by her three children, Anita (Jule) Ost, of Montevideo, Alice Korn of Clara City, and Bob (Linda) Zielsdorf of Benson; six grandchildren, Carol (John) Farchmin, Brad (Janet) Ost, Kevin (Linda) Korn, Darin (Monica) Zielsdorf, Angela (Brian) Nissen, and Janel (Dave) Tolifson; fifteen great grandchildren Kurt Farchmin, Matt Farchmin, Marshall (Melanie) Korn, Nathan Korn, Jeremy Korn, Andrew Ost, Austin Ost, Alexandra Nissen, Nicole Zielsdorf, Amanda Nissen, Matthew Tolifson, Brett Nissen, Natalie Zielsdorf, Ryan Tolifson, and Carly Tolifson, and one sister Dorothy Moe, of Glenwood City, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Lena, her husband Alfred, and three sisters Opal Zielsdorf, Lucille Brandt, and Edna Moe.
