Obituary

Margaret Ellen Nelson was born March 21, 1944 at her parent's farm in Torning Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Roy and Gladys (McDonald) Nelson. She was baptized on June 11, 1964 at First Baptist Church in Benson by Rev. Richard Weins. She grew up in Benson, and attended Benson Elementary School. Margaret moved to Kindlehope in Willmar in 1971. After the closing of Kindlehope, she moved to a group home. She retired after working at West Central Industries for 36 years. After retiring, she enjoyed spending her days at the Bethesda Adult Day Services. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Benson, and Girls Missionary Guild. Among the things she enjoyed were going on trips, writing from her Bible, listening to music - especially country music, making latch hook rugs, embroidering, bowling, listening to Twins baseball games, and playing cards. She especially loved dogs, cats and horses. Margaret was called from this life on May 19, 2011 at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar. She attained the age of 67 years, 1 month, and 28 days. Margaret is survived by her siblings: Donald (Barbara) Nelson of Benson, Myrtle Grace of Willmar, Francis (LeRoy) Haverly of Eyota, Gene (Virginia) Nelson of Benson, and Anna Stockham of Carroll, IA; and 20 nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents: Roy in 1974 and Gladys in 1982; a sister, Juanita Hircock; brothers-in-law: Edward Lagred, Robert Grace, and Kent Stockham; a niece Phyllis Ebb; and special friend, Merle Netland.
