Marian Kerr passed away at the Colonial Acres Care Center on Oct. 20, 2010, just three weeks before her 89th birthday. She was born Nov. 13, 1921, daughter of Lester H. and Fern (Potter) Kerr, at Holloway, Minnesota. Marian attended Moyer Township (District 46) country school and Holloway High School in Minnesota graduating in 1939. She received one year of secretarial training at Morris Agricultural School (now University of Minnesota, Morris). She was employed by the Federal Land Bank Office in Appleton, MN, when she joined the Navy WAVES in 1943. Marian was stationed at Hunter College (New York); Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Admiral King's Navy office in Washington, DC. Following her discharge in 1945 she moved to Minnesota and worked for many years with the Griswold Company and for Dayton's (now Target Corporation) as a financial analyst in the real estate division. Marian retired in 1985. The past few years Marian lived at RidgePointe in Minnetonka, MN.Marian's hobbies included golf, gardening, embroidery, and many different card games. She loved the swing music of the Big Band era. She was a long time member of the Messiah United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the National Secretaries Association.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester H. and Fern Kerr; brother Robert Kerr; and niece, Bette Beyer. Survived by her sister, Dorothy Pine, Silver City, NM; sister-in-law, Barbara Kerr, Appleton, MN; nephew, Patrick (Debbie) Pine, Tehachapi, CA; nieces, Rebecca (Frank) O'Keefe, Medina, MN; Jeanette (John) Pfaff, Appleton, MN; Peggy (Yuichi) Otake, Sakura, Japan; Judy Reuss, Benson, MN; Pamela (Boon) Pine-Pettihong, Bangkok, Thailand; Andrea (Kurt) Radke, Duluth, MN; Chayla (Troy) Ostby, Morris, MN, and several great-nieces and nephews.
