Marion Elizabeth Schwandt was born on January 22, 1922, in Akron Township, Big Stone County, to Martin and Hattie (Engelmann) Winger. She was baptized on September 24, 1922, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odessa and was confirmed on June 14, 1936, at Grace Lutheran Church in Correll. She graduated from Correll High School in 1940.On May 12, 1944, she was married to Norman Bakeberg and Norman died on February 15, 1960. On June 10, 1961, she was married to Paul Schwandt at Grace Lutheran Church. Marion worked as a homemaker her entire life.She enjoyed reading, listening to the radio, cooking, baking and canning, and playing cards. She liked to spend time with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and enjoyed coffee with friends and neighbors. She often took Sunday drives in the country. Marion had open-arms for her family when they visited. She had a kind, caring, and gentle heart, and was very strong-willed.Marion died on Sunday, September 20th, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. She had attained 87 years, 7 months, and 28 days of age.She is survived by three sons: Douglas (Julia) Bakeberg of Chaska, Randall (Sandra) Bakeberg of Correll, and Charles Bakeberg of Hopkins; nine grandchildren: Tera (Matt) Fuller, Scott Bakeberg, Brandon (Judy) Bakeberg, Justin (Rachael) Bakeberg, Hattie (Ryan) Moeller, Kaylee (John) Ball, Megan Bakeberg (finance Nicholas Hastad), Brian Bakeberg, and Michael Bakeberg; eight great-grandchildren: Clay Fuller, Madeline, Hunter and Austyn Bakeberg, Avery Moeller, and Natalie, Savana and Kaylee Ball; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Norman Bakeberg and Paul Schwandt; two sisters: Neola Bakeberg and Nora Bergseth; and two brothers: Bertrum and Robert Winger.
