Marjorie Ann Reuss was born August 31, 1933 in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman Gustaf and Anna Marie (Carstens) Gades. She was baptized September 24, 1933 and confirmed on May 18, 1947 at Trinity Fairfield Lutheran Church. She attended grade school at District #48 and graduated from Appleton High School with the Class of 1951. Marjorie was united in marriage to LeRoy Carl Reuss on June 21, 1952 at Trinity Fairfield Church. They were blessed with four children and 53 years of marriage. Marjorie worked with her husband on a farm in Tara Township, Swift County for about 45 years. She also worked as a tax preparer and had other clerical jobs in Benson for 30 years. They retired to Benson in 1990. Marjorie moved to Glenwood Retirement Village in 2003 and in 2006 to the Appleton Nursing Home. Among the things Marjorie enjoyed were singing, bowling, gardening, reading, softball, and playing cards. She especially enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's activities and playing board games with her grandchildren. She was a member of a Homemaker's Club, the Women's Organization and Sunday School Teacher at Redeemer of Danvers and Trinity of Benson. She served as a 4-H Leader and an AAL officer. Marjorie was called from this life on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Appleton Nursing Home. She attained the age of 76 years, 4 months and 12 days. Marjorie is survived by her children: Colleen (David) Tosel of Appleton, Kathy (Kurt) Peterson of New London and Scott (Kay) Reuss of Pound, WI; daughter-in-law, Judy Reuss of Benson; eleven grandchildren: ten great-grandchildren; brothers: Wilbert (Mary) Gades of Starbuck, Gerald (Kris) Gades of Villard, Roger (Marlene) Gades of Montevideo; sister Lyndell (Jurn) Lindahl of Morris; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Harste of Holloway, Shirley Gades of Starbuck and Sharon Gades of Morris; and other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband LeRoy in 2005; a son Steven in 2003; her parents, Herman and Anna; and brothers: Norlen, Ronald and Rodney Gades.
