Obituary

Marjorie L. Veum was born in Appleton on August 14, 1920, to Mike A. and Sena (Kulseth) Westergaard. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and graduated from Appleton High School. In 1938 she was married to Alden "Babe" Veum. They moved from Appleton to Faribault in 1961 and three years later purchased the Menomonie County Club in Menomonie, WI. After "Babe's" death in 1970 Marjorie continued to operate the golf club until her retirement in 1993. She moved to Mala Strana Health Care Facility in New Prague in 2005. Marjorie died on Monday, January 19th, at Mala Strana Health Care Facility after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She had attained 88 years, 5 months, and 5 days of age. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Stan) Skjei, of New Prague; three grandchildren: Jodi (Barry) Karn of Bloomington, Scott (Michele) Skjei of Lakeville, and Julie Skjei of Savage; five great-grandchildren: Kelly and Beau Karn, Ramsey and Brady Skjei, and Jordan Skjei Wright; her sister, Doris Trotter, of St. Louis, MO; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Sena Westergaard; husband, Alden "Babe" Veum in 1970; son, Ole A. Veum; and her brother-in-law, John Trotter.
